Brandywine River Museum Visit

This past weekend I visited the Bradywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, PA. Though I enjoyed a brief walk around the nice grounds, which do lead to a trail along the river, I hope to come back in the spring and spend some more time outside there and maybe arrive by canoe next time!
Below were some of my favorite paintings that I saw there.
#1 is Mead Schaffer “Arabs on a Brick Wall” 1927.  I really liked the thick strokes of paint and bright pops of teal and corals.
#2 Howard Pyle illustration from “Treasure Island” 1911  pirates oh my!
#3 Andrew Wyeth “Snow Hill” 1989.  I enjoy how the colorful ribbons and anticipated movement cut into the quiet snow landscape.  Wizard of Oz also comes to mind.
#4 N.C. Wyeth “The Dusty Bottle” 1924.  From the info blurb that accompanied the painting, this quote really resonated with me “…A master technician and exacting teacher, Wyeth believed that the first responsibility of a young artist is to “love an object for its own sake…simply because it is an object of form and substance revealed by the wonder of light...”
#5 This bronze pig was outside along the river and made by Andre Harvey, a client of the foundry I work at.  I believe it was cast in 1983, this particular sculpture was not cast at my foundry though.
